David A. Chodack, the creator of the Contract Wizard, was born and raised in Brooklyn New York. In 1969, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to attend San Francisco State University, while his wife did graduate work at the University of California at Berkeley. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in English Literature. He got into real estate in 1975 and has been a professional investor, a real estate agent, a loan agent and an apprentice appraiser, as well as a writer speaker and seminar leader
